On results of the 9th meeting of the Belarusian-Czech Joint Commission on Economic, Industrial, Scientific and Technical co-operation

On May 16-17, 2017 the 9th meeting of the Belarusian-Czech Joint Commission on Economic, Industrial, Scientific and Technical co-operation was held in Prague, in the framework of which the meetings of the Belarusian-Czech working group on agriculture and the meeting of the Belarusian-Czech working group on engineering were also organised.

The Belarusian delegation was headed by Mr. Evgeny Shestakov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, the Czech delegation – by Mr. Jiří Koliba, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic.
Parties confirmed a mutual support for joint economic projects at the political level and agreed to study an issue of a deeper involvement of Czech and Belarusian companies in the activity of the Joint Commission. Also both parties will begin preparation for participation of the Belarusian delegation in the International Engineering Trade Fair «MSV 2017» in Brno and in the Business day of Republic of Belarus are to be held on October 11, 2017 in the framework of this fair.
Successful cooperation in the energy sector where the Czech companies act not only as suppliers of the power equipment, but also more and more often as direct investors is separately noted. Parties discussed possible options of construction of a hydroelectric power station in Belarus on the basis of direct Czech investments and held negotiations with Czech companies interested in the project.
Within the work of the Belarusian-Czech working group on agriculture an agreement to expand cooperation in veterinary and phytosanitary area and in an agricultural education was reached. Members of working group considered proposals of Czech companies on construction of dairy farms and livestock complexes and studied technologies of production of dairy products, malt and beer used by Czech companies that will be in use in the process of introduction of the Belarusian production to the European market.
In order to support bilateral cooperation the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic will organize a collective stand of 12 Czech companies at the International Agricultural Exhibition “Belagro 2017" that will be held on 6-10 June, 2017 in Minsk. The Czech side informed on preparation of the collective stand of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic which will present 12 Czech companies at the International agricultural exhibition of «Belagro» which will be organized on June 6-10, 2017 in Minsk.
Within the Belarusian-Czech working group on engineering a new boost was received by dialogue with the Czech producers of automotive and agricultural machinery on coproduction of automotive components for Belarusian and Czech companies.
