Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus and the Czech Republic

On January 31, 2019 Prague hosted consultations on trade and economic issues between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic

The Belarusian delegation at the consultations was headed by the Director of the Foreign Economic Activities Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Mr. Roman Sobolev, the Czech delegation was led by the Junior Deputy Minister, Head of Economic Policy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Marek Svoboda.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Czech Republic Valery Kurdyukov took part in the discussion. The Czech delegation was also attended by the Director of the Department of Foreign Economic Policy of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Martin Pospíšil.

The parties discussed current situation and expected economic development of the Czech Republic and the Republic of Belarus, economic and investment cooperation, including extension of interaction within the framework of the Eastern Partnership, the Chinese initiative “The Silk Road Economic Belt”, opportunities and perspectives on EU-EACE cooperation, exchanged of information and experience in the field of economic diplomacy.

Specific measures in order to increase mutual trade in goods and services have been identified.
